2nd Class 2026-27

Gymnastics Lessons

Today, Second Class began our gymnastics lessons at Olympian Gymnastics in Nutgrove Shopping Centre. Our fantastic coaches, Shannon and Ori, are helping us learn lots of new skills, including balancing, rolling, tumbling and all of the fundamental movement skills. We had great fun on the mats and bars this week, and we are really looking forward to trying out some of the other gym equipment throughout the term.
We definitely have a few budding gymnasts in our midst in Second Class, and who knows where it might lead...Olympics 2040 here we come!
Second Class are really enjoying their music sessions with Mary from Music Generation!
We are having great fun learning all about rhythm, pulse and melody, as well as exploring the different instruments that can be used to create music. This term, we will also be focusing on songwriting and musical notation, which we are all very excited about. We are looking forward to developing our musical skills even further, and it is clear that we have some budding musicians in our midst!
Today, we began our GAA lessons with Liam from Ballinteer St John’s GAA Club!
We are wearing all our safety equipment, including helmets, and learning how to use the hurley properly. We have been practising passing the sliotar to each other and are looking forward to developing our GAA skills over the coming weeks!
Today, Second Class took part in our sponsored walk. We made our way to Loreto Park, where we completed a couple of laps before finishing off in the playground, where we had lots of fun!
Thankfully, the weather stayed dry for us, and we all felt fit and energised after our walk. It was wonderful to get active while also helping to raise funds for our school.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed and returned their sponsorship cards. Your support is greatly appreciated!
