School Tour to Dublin Zoo
We had a fantastic day in Dublin Zoo - we all became 'Dino Detectives'! This involved learning lots about dinosaurs and fossils before getting involved in a dig ourselves. We had great fun getting involved and uncovering different parts of a T-Rex! Our tour guide talked to us about climate change and all the little actions we can take to reduce climate change. Then we saw lots of animals including giraffes, elephants, penguins, seal lions, red pandas and more. We even spotted some animals that are difficult to see - the cheetah and the snow leopard! What a super school tour!
Intercultural Day
We had a fabulous time celebrating all the wonderful cultures we have in Good Shepherd! Thank you so much to all the parents and children that came in to teach us about their countries. We loved chatting to new people, looking at projects and tasting all the delicious new foods. What a super day!
Merry Christmas Everyone!
What a fantastic December we have had. We were very busy with play rehearsals for our show 'Elves on Strike'. We have been learning all about the first Christmas and the different ways people like to celebrate. We have done lots of nice activities like Christmas baking and a game of Pass the Parcel. We also had some lovely visitors from the Garda Band and even Santa himself made an appearance!
Science Week 2025
We had a fantastic week exploring all things science! We worked as a team and had great fun designing and making during a Lego workshop. Then we had a special visit from some TY students who did lots of hands on experiments with us. Finally we got to visit the Exploration Dome which was a totally immersive and memorable experience! Thanks to everyone for a super week
Happy Halloween 2025!
We had a great few weeks leading up to Halloween. We painted our own pumpkins and learned all about the history of Halloween. The Halloween disco on the last day was so much fun! We hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween.
Autumn Art
We have been busy exploring the wonderful world of colour! Our young artists have been experimenting with colour mixing, learning how to combine primary colours to create new ones and discovering how to make shades lighter by adding white. We are very proud of our artwork! Well done everyone
Sports Day 2026
What an amazing Wellbeing Week we had this year! The competitive spirit was alive and well on Sports Day. We really enjoyed the egg and spoon race, sack race and of course the tug of war! The parachute was another firm favourite activity. It wasn't all fast-paced racing. We also enjoyed a relaxing yoga and meditation session. A visit from Teddy's ice cream van was another highlight! Thanks to all parents and volunteers for helping making this special week possible.
Chinese New Year
We have been learning all about Chinese New Year! We have learned about the origin of Chinese New Year and the Chinese Zodiac. It has been so interesting to learn more about Chinese culture. Our class created beautiful dragon art and red and gold lanterns. We worked together to create a project on China for Intercultual Day. We are very excited to welcome the Year of the Horse!
Christmas Trip!
Our class went on a trip to the local post office to post Christmas cards to our families. While we were there we saw lots of beautiful Christmas lights and decorations! We also saw a lovely Christmas crib waiting for baby Jesus to arrive on Christmas Day. We are so excited for Christmas!
Sponsored Walk
Thank you so much to all the families for supporting our Sponsored Walk! It was a lovely autumn day for a walk to the park and we had great fun in the playground!
Maths Week 2025
Our class had a super Maths Week filled with fun and fantastic numbers! We learned all about our favourite numbers and found lots of cool ways to show them off. Everyone made a brilliant poster all about a special number, drawing pictures and writing down different ways to represent it—like tens and ones, tally marks, part-whole models and even drawings! We also played lots of fun and engaging games and even made our own patterns with stickers. It was wonderful to see everyone counting, adding, and problem-solving with big smiles!
