Senior Infants 2025-26

School Tour to Newgrange Farm

This week we went on our school tour to Newgrange Farm. We had a wonderful time handling baby chicks, goats and puppies. We got to feed the lambs and hens and make a wish by the Hawthorn tree.  We were brought on a tractor ride by the River Boyne to see all the crops in the fields. And the day was topped off with some water and sand play in the sun.

SENIOR INFANTS
Our first term has been a happy and busy one in Senior Infants! Each morning begins with free play, giving our class time to settle in to their day and enjoy learning through play with their friends.  Throughout the term, they have had lots of opportunities to express themselves through chatting to one another, art, movement and play, while building their confidence and independence which is an important part of Senior Infants.  What a great bunch they are! :)
FUN! FUN! FUN!

At Good Shepherd School we laugh and play,
In Senior Infants we have fun every day!
We sing, we paint and learn to share.
With happy friends and teachers who care.

We try our best to help one another,
Be kind like sisters, friends or brothers.
Clap you hands and give a cheer.
Senior Infants love it here!
MATHS
Senior Infants really love Maths... especially if our hands on activities involve Smarties!
They have been learning early Maths skills such as counting, sorting and recognising numbers in a fun and meaningful way. Being active helps the children to stay engaged and gives them confidence. Their smiles show that they really enjoy learning Maths through play.
SCIENCE

We've had great fun together exploring and creating.
Check out some of our photos to see what we've been up to.

INTERCULTURAL DAY 2026

What a fantastic day we had celebrating Intercultural Day 2026 in Good Shepherd. Our class chose the country of Brazil. We worked hard to create a class poster with interesting facts about Brazilian landmarks, lifestyle, animals, food, traditions and culture. Thank you to our class parent and pupil that put so much time and effort into creating a fabulous display. They even freshly baked us some traditional Brazilian food. We tasted Pao de Quijo, a Brazilian cheese bread and delicious Brigadeiro which are a classic Brazilian treat similar to chocolate truffles. They were yummy!

Afterwards, the whole school went to the hall to celebrate together by singing and dancing.

Well done to all the classes, teachers, parents and of course our HSCL Teacher Ms. Smith who worked hard to put this day together.
