Ms Guerrine’s 2nd Class 2024-25

Show and Tell
In our fantastic Show and Tell session, students proudly shared their special items with their classmates. Each child spoke clearly and confidently, explaining why their chosen item holds meaning for them. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and hear their thoughtful explanations. They should all be very proud of themselves for their excellent speaking and listening skills!
Hurling Fun with Jack from Ballinteer St. Johns GAA
The children have been having a fantastic time learning hurling skills with Jack from Ballinteer St. John's GAA. They have picked up various techniques very quickly. Jack has been brilliant in teaching them the fundamentals, and their enthusiasm and teamwork has been great to see. We might have some future Dublin GAA All-Stars in our midst!
 
Egg Drop Challenge
2nd class took on the exciting Egg Drop Challenge! Working in teams, they designed creative protective layers for their eggs using a variety of materials. Everyone did a great job, and well done to all for thinking outside the box!
Sponsored Walk
2nd class had a wonderful time on their sponsored walk in Loretto park. It was a fun and active way to support our school! 
Maths Week: Shapes
Exploring 2D shapes with creativity and teamwork! Our students used lollipop sticks to build imaginative creations like houses, robots and more. From triangles to squares, they brought 2D shapes to life with their fantastic team work and problem solving skills during Maths Week. Well Done 2nd class!
Money Matters!
The children have been busy exploring money in a fun and practical way! They have been handling coins, adding different values, pricing items and working out the cheapest and most expensive options. They have been developing excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking.
Tower Building Challenge
Our students took on an exciting tower-building challenge using only marshmallows and spaghetti. With these limited materials, they had to think creatively, problem-solve, and work as a team to create the tallest and most stable towers possible. The results were fantastic. Well done to all children on their creative designs!
Halloween Dress Up
Our Halloween celebrations on the last day before midterm were a blast. Everyone looked amazing in their costumes, and the Halloween disco was great fun! Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun. I hope you you all had a well deserved break this midterm! 
2nd Class had a blast making parachutes and exploring how different materials affect air resistance!
